We repair loose gutters that have become overloaded by debris or nails working loose from the fascia board.

Gutter re-attachment can be as minor as replacing gutter nails and substituting hangers. However, the fascia may be rotting causing the gutter nails or hangers to be loose. In this case we will need to remove the guttering, install new fascia, cap the fascia with aluminum and reinstall the gutter.

Our gutter repair experts can replace damaged elbows and cross sections of leaders and can add LEADER EXTENSIONS to ensure water moves away from foundation areas. We can replace the LEADER HEAD, which is the box-like head of the downspout connected to the gutter. Our repair technicians can also install extra parts including end caps, outlets and straps or they can add more support to the entire gutter system ensuring that the gutters and leaders are properly anchored. We are able to install or replace the L shaped heavy duty piece of metal called a DRIP EDGE that goes up under the shingles and down into the gutter to prevent squirrels and other animals from getting into the attic.

Standing water or water pooling in gutters is usually the result of improperly installed gutters that don’t pitch enough so that the water flows towards the downspouts. It can also be the result of sagging gutters.

Our repair technicians will check the slope and adjust and re-pitch the gutters properly because improper drainage due to poor pitch is one of the biggest causes of roof drainage problems.

Re-sealing gutter seams is one of the most common gutter repairs. Leaking seams can occur when the caulking deteriorates because of UV sunlight damage, from excess debris in the gutters or from ice buildup or ice dams. We will clean and sand the area and apply gutter sealant. You may also experience leaks around the downspouts and/or the joints of sectional guttering. This is generally caused by poorly fitted connections. Our crew will reconnect if possible and caulk with a high grade of silicone caulk.

An improperly functioning gutter and leader system can contribute to water and ice backing up against fascias, causing damage to the fascia boards and soffits. Fascia board is a flat board that is nailed to the end of the rafters, above the roof edge. The fascia encloses the roof overhang under the eave that runs along the roof edge. The gutters are attached to the fascia board.

From the ground up it may appear that the fascia boards and soffits just need a new coat of paint but sometimes the weight of the gutters or debris can cause the nails to eventually pull out. The gutter can tilt and cause an open space between itself and the fascia board. Water then goes down the fascia board and spreads along the soffit. Water will not only damage the fascia board it can also fall along the foundation or spread into the ceiling. Upon close inspection of the wood it will become obvious that it’s beyond repair and needs to be replaced.

Our gutter repair experts will pry off the fascia board along the eave and clean out any debris behind it. They will remove the flashing and replace any under-soffit plywood. Any rotting, spongy, brittle or crumbling boards are removed. New flashing, fascia boards and soffit vents are then installed.

Soffit vents are the rectangular vents on the underside of the soffit. They’re usually made of vinyl or aluminum and they are covered with a nylon mesh or netting to prevent bees, etc. from taking up residence in your attic. Neglected soffits can be a haven for small animals, insects, and rot that can create problems in the overall structure of the house.
